Why my iPad does not sync with Google Calendar

Reason1: You have not turned ON Calendar Sync

  1. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts, Calendars
  2. Tap on your GMail account
  3. If you see the “Calendars” is turned off, Tap it once to turn it on

Reason 2: You did not connected to the Internet when you edit iCal

From my Experience, the iCal only sync with Google when you open the App. If you added the events while your device is offline, you have to connect to the internet and open the iCal app again to sync up to Google.

Reason 3: You have changed your Google password

Turns out you’ll not see an error message if you have recently changed password and forget to update it on your iOS device! Everything just silently Fail to work. (Apple, I saw what you did there…) Are you one of those forget to do so? Just go to Settings> Mail,Contacts,Calendars to change your GMail password, hopefully it will work again.

How to Fix if the above not seemed to work

You can try removing your GMail account from the iPad settings and login again.

  1. Make sure you don’t have data that has not saved to Google, or you already performed backed up.
  2. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap on your GMail account
  4. Tap on “Delete Account”, This will NOT delete your account from Google, it just remove from the iPad/iDevice

Good Luck!

    • I’m sorry to hear that Sally! I should add a warning there. Yes, if your iCal didn’t sync with Google while you keep adding events to the calendar, newly added entries will be deleted if you perform the above steps to re-connect with Google.
